DON'T FORGET TO NOTICE ALL THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE

Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to accomplish something big, that we fail to notice all the little things that give life its magic. Keep your eyes open for blessings in disguise. They are everywhere. And they are worth gathering into your awareness.

 LIFE'S TOO SHORT

Do you ever look back on your life and say, “Wow! How did I even make it through that?” The “that” could be a stressful situation – a death, divorce, job move; or it could just be the daily grind of life. You know, the "going to work-cooking meals-grocery shopping-doing laundry-helping with homework-raising kids” daily grind. Now that we’re retired, my friend and I often wonder how we survived, mentally and physically, dealing with it all. I know that so many times I would dwell on all the things that went wrong - “Could that have gone any worse?” “Why did I say/do that?” “When will I ever have time to get that done?” Basically, I was focusing on the worst that happened instead of the best. Let’s face it people, life’s too short to be so negative.

 USE YOUR SENSES

So if you’re looking for a way to have a more positive outlook on your daily life, I encourage you to do something that I’ve begun to do – start using your senses – your five senses that is. During the day, I am on the lookout for things I smell, touch, see, taste, and hear that please me. I make a conscious effort to do this, take a few seconds to enjoy it, and then make a mental note of it. As I have consistently enjoyed these sensations during the day, I find that my senses have become more alert, waiting, searching for stimulation. It’s like muscle memory training. This works so well with nature, pets, food, and people we love. I’ve watched eagles soaring and dipping in the bright blue sky, and I can now identify the sound they make as they play. My granddaughter is one of my very favorite people that I practice my five senses on. And of course my art strengthens my senses' muscles. What are some things you could practice using your five senses on? I hope you give it a try.

 THE ART

Note: I am a Design Team member for The Crafter's Workshop; however, even though I use and love their products, all opinions are solely my own. #ad #advertising #sponsor

The Art this week is 3 journal spreads which I especially like because the colors are so bright and spring-y. I hope you enjoy them too.

Something else that has also helps me to stay positive is my Gratitude Journal that I shared in my post entitled Sixty Second of Happiness (that you can read by clicking on the italics). Each night I write 3 things I am grateful for that happened during the day. I love reading the previous entries and reliving the events. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and will join me here every Friday for another blog post and on Facebook and Instagram.

Art in the Studio makes every day a good day.
