TOO MUCH STUFF IS JUST TOO MUCH TO CARE ABOUT

Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.

PURGING

What do 2 superhero t-shirts, a cute pair of high heels that I’ve never worn, 6 pie plates, a roaster that could hold a 60 lb. turkey (exaggeration), and an electric popcorn popper have in common? They were all part of the snatch and grab that happened at my house in May when I purged a few pounds, yes pounds, of non-essentials and carted them off to the nearest drop off spot. It felt good to donate and give away what I didn’t want so those things can live on in someone else’s house. I’m at a point in my life where I’m feeling like too much stuff is just too much to care about.

GET RID OF IT

During the month, I asked myself questions like, "Wait, this expired in 2015???" and "For what recipe would I ever buy a large bottle of cardamom?" and "Did I seriously think I'd wear those heels??"

My new rule of thumb is if you haven’t used it in a year, if you hate the color, if it hurts to wear it (the high heels), if it’s out of style or too small – GET RID OF IT! I’ve also decided that even though it’s cheaper to buy in quantity or larger-size bottles, I didn't really save any money if it’s going to expire before it gets used. (Hmmm, I guess there is one thing I need to buy in bulk that will not expire - toilet paper.) My friend says she doesn’t want any more gifts that “sit”. Good thinking – too much to dust. What can you purge today?

THE ARTWORK

Note: I am a Design Team member for The Crafter's Workshop; however, even though I use and love their products, all opinions are solely my own. #ad #advertising #sponsor

Of course, the month of May wasn't all work and no play. In fact, I was in The Studio quite a lot. Here's some pages I created.

Enjoy the first weekend of the meteorologist's summer, art friends! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and will join me here every Saturday for another blog post and on Facebook and Instagram.

Art in the Studio makes every day a good day.
Thanks for spending time with ArtEveryDayStudio!
