GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF ART

All our dreams can come true,
but only if we have the courage to pursue them.

 Happy for a Lifetime

You know that old saying - Give a man a fish; he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish; he’ll eat for a lifetime. How about this one – Give someone a painting, they’ll be happy for a day. Teach them to paint, they’ll be happy for a lifetime. Yeah, I didn’t think you’d have heard that one, ‘cause I just made it up. It may not catch on like the first, but I think it’s as profound. The point I’m trying to make is that art is a gift anyone can possess. And any art you make, as long as it makes you happy, is art.

 Congo

Merriam Webster defines art as the use of skill and imagination in the production of things of beauty. You may be saying, “But my art won’t be a thing of beauty.” And Merriam responds by saying beauty is qualities that give pleasure to the senses or exalt the mind. And what about this old saying – “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” hmmm? Ever heard of Picasso? Jackson Pollack? Or Congo??? Go ahead, take a minute and look up Congo. . . . . . . . . (waiting) . . . . . . . Surprised? Yeah, and if Congo can do it, you can too!

 THE ART

Note: I am a Design Team member for The Crafter's Workshop; however, even though I use and love their products, all opinions are solely my own. #ad #advertising #sponsor

Recently, I taught some friends the art of monoprinting and how to “pull prints”. We spent 3 hours with gel plates, paint, brayers, and mark-making tools like stencils, plastic circles, foam stamps, and plastic bottles wrapped with rubber bands. We laughed and made beautiful art.

Below are some of my prints. I think the colors are so beautiful, and they make me happy.

Are you an artist, or want to become an artist? I hope the answer is "Yes!"

 Don't Miss Out

If you don’t have art in your life, you’re missing out on lots of happiness, people. Paint, clay, thread, paper, fabric, metal, glass, whatever medium you choose. Just step out of your comfort zone, and be a Congo! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and will join me here every Friday for another blog post and on Facebook and Instagram.
